Pucker Up: Kissable Lips All Winter Long!

While keeping your lips kissable all year long seems like a no brainer, you need to work a little harder during the cold, dry winter months.

1. Exfoliate

Dry and flaky skin on your lips is preventing you from putting your best lip forward. So removing it is a must. Exfoliation will be most effective following a shower or when your lips are softened by a warm washcloth. There are several ways to exfoliate your lips:

  • Use a lip scrub or other lip exfoliant product
  • Make your own scrub with some sugar, oil and a bit of honey
  • Use a toothbrush with some oil (even a washcloth will do)
Whatever your choice (mine is our Lip Scrub – of course), gently massage your lips.  Wipe and rinse with warm water, then pat dry.

2. Nourish

Immediately following your exfoliation apply an intense moisture. Apply your favorite oil or lip butter and allow your lips to fully absorb the moisture. Do NOT lick your lips! It actually takes some effort to let it fully absorb but the extra few minutes are worth it.

3. Moisturize

Use lip balm throughout the day and use it often! Not only is it moisturizing your lips, it is the best protection against the wicked winter weather. I have lip balms everywhere: in my pockets, purse, desk, coat, car, kitchen, bathroom and I am sure many other places I have forgotten about. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day for hydration.

Note: Avoid Lip Balms that contain synthetic ingredients like fragrances and flavors. They can be very drying. Look for balms that contain natural ingredients.

Here are some of our lip products – my personal favorite right now is the Lemon.
