Salt baths are naturing detoxifying to the skin and can improve circulation while reducing pain and inflammation.  Add some natural oils to the bath to help moisturize and provide additional healing benefits.  My favorite oils to add are: Lavender and Tea Tree.

Here are a few herbal remedies that you can implement into your daily routine that may help relieve itchy, inflammatory skin conditions.

Chickweed is one of the most common weeds in the world and can probably be found in your yard. It is gentle enough to use on the most sensitive skin and is even suitable for babies.

The type of fats you eat can play an important part in the condition of your skin. The omega-6 fatty acids found in oils such as safflower, sunflower, corn and grape seed can exacerbate inflammation. The omega-3 fatty acids found in flaxseed and other seeds, nuts and seafood enhance the body’s production of anti-inflammatory compounds. This can be extremely beneficial in the create of inflammatory skin conditions.

How: Incorporate flaxseed oil into your diet through capsule form or sprinkle on your meals. The oil should be refrigerated for freshness.

Turmeric

Turmeric

Tumeric has been used effectively for centuries as a topical treatment for inflammatory skin conditions. It is well-documented for antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune-stimulating properties.
